Arrival

General information on accessible traveling to Berlin, wheelchair-accessible mobility in Berlin (public transport and taxis), and accessible accommodation can be found on TravelableBerlin.

On the website of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG – 'Berlin public transport') you can look up your local public transport connection. If you need a wheelchair accessible connection, click on the box "barrierefreie Verbindung/disabled access" in the search mask on the left.

You can find information on elevator malfunctions in public transport here:

Conference Venue

The conference will take place in the main building (Unter den Linden 6) of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in the rooms Senatssaal, 2070a, 2249a, and 1066e.

The main building is generally accessible. However, there are cobblestones at the entrance via Ehrenhof and through the garden from Dorotheenstraße.

The function rooms on the ground floor and first floor are wheelchair accessible. There is an elevator in the side wing of the main building (from the main entrance take the corridor to the left to the end, then left again – you will find the elevator on the right). The elevator is equipped with stop announcements and visual floor indicators, has Braille on the buttons and is wheelchair accessible. If the elevator is malfunctioning, please report to the doorman in the main foyer of the main building.

You can download a map of the area around Humboldt-Universität as well as a floor plan of the ground floor and the first floor of the main building here.

Restrooms

The buildings that are accessible via wheelchair have wheelchair accessible restrooms. To open these you need EURO keys.

Relaxation room

The usual relaxation room in the main building is currently unusable due to construction work. Instead, room 2076 can be used (room 3093 will be used as the parent-child room during the conference). The key to this room can be obtained from the doorman of the main building or from the conference office.

Participants with hearing impairments

Induction loops are installed in the Senatssaal and all lecture halls in the west wing.

A mobile induction system can be lent from the Disability Representative if you register early on.

Cafeterias and dining halls

The Säulenmensa ('pillar cafeteria' - Unter den Linden 6) is wheelchair accessible. However, the usage of it is difficult without assistance.
