Gender Studies Student Council

On the Gender Studies Student Council Initiative’s Blog you’ll find more information about projects, events, and important dates.

Who and what is the Student Council?

The Student Council (the Fachschaft) is made up of all gender studies students. Everyone who is interested can participate. There is no executive board, no set group that makes up the Student Council, and there are no elections. Currently, many students are selectively participating in various projects. Because of this decentralized and voluntary structure, we consider ourselves to be a student council initiative, rather than a traditional student council.

What can you bring to the table?

On the one hand, it is important that we are visible in university politics, which means representing students' interests in various university governing bodies. We believe that the success of an academic program depends on the cooperation between teachers, students, and administration.
In addition, the Student Council Initiative maintains close contact with the ReferentInnenRat.

On the other hand, we strive to make student life as comfortable as possible. To that end, we offer student peer advising. At the start of every new semester, you’ll find the office hours for student peer advising here.

Most important, however, is creating a space for interaction and exchange. To do that, we offer student orientation and introductions to gender studies at HU, as well as tutors, reading groups, and now and then a little party.

Where is the Student Council Office?

The Student Council’s Office is in Georgenstraße 47, Room 1.06. Our telephone number is 2093-1748, however, since there isn’t always someone in our office it is better to get in touch with us via Email at fachschaftsini.genderstudies[AT]googlemail.com
