Description of the Project
|
After several years of national(ist) debates in Indonesia, the so-called »Bill Against Pornography and Porno-Action« was ratified in 2008 as the »Pornography Law«. At the intersection of Indonesian studies and gender studies, this dissertation approaches how knowledge about the Pornography Law was produced in the context of new global political constellations and from a transdisciplinary, discourse-theoretical, and postcolonial-feminist perspective. My media analysis especially focuses on the intersecting relationships between nation, gender, sexuality, religion, ethnicity, and space in arguments for and against the Pornography Law. Central research interests are the interrelation of gender orders and knowledge systems, which are analyzed in light of power relations and power structures in Indonesian society as well as in an international context and discussed in the light of current scientific knowledge production. |

From 08/2011 – 10/2011 research in Indonesia, from 09/2012 – 04/2013 visiting doctoral student at the international PHD program of the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies (ICRS), at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta (Indonesia). |
