Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Gender as a Category of Knowledge

Dr. Claudia Schink

PhD Project:

Victim – Pain – Vision: Selected examples in Jewish and Christian culture to the relationship of victim, pain and vision

Description of the Project

This project is thematically organized into three parts: victim – pain – vision. At the center of my analysis lies the investigation of bodily pain in the christian tradition. The study constitutes therefore part of an artistic-academic project.
My project makes a contribution to the thematic focus of the Research Training Group by examining bodily pain and its effects with a focus on gender-specific aspects. Moreover, my study contributes to the interdisciplinary orientation of the group by pursuing both an academic and aesthetic focus.

Studied Philosophy at Universität zu Köln. 1987 Graduation in Free Painting  at Fachhochschule Köln. 1995 Graduation in Media Art at Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln. 2005 fellowship at the research training group »Gender as a Category of Knowledge«. 2006 PhD in Cultural Studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
