Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Zentrum für Transdisziplinäre Geschlechterstudien

Research Projects

Gender Studies at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin examines the meaning, production, construction, negotiation, and relevance of gender and gender relations, together with how these concepts work and change, from a perspective that cuts across disciplines and theoretical approaches.

The focuses of gender studies research at HU are:

  • Knowledge and epistemology,
  • Interdependencies,
  • Norming and transformation,
  • Coding and expressions.

A special emphasis of research at the ZtG over the last few years has been on women’s and intellectual history, and the history of science at FWU/HU.

Our doctoral research program, the Graduiertenkolleg, examined the challenges of conducting truly transdisciplinary research in gender studies.

You can get a detailed overview of current research projects at our research database. The database, however, is only available in German.

If you are a member of the HU and ZtG community and are conducting research in the field of Gender Studies, please let us know about your project by submitting this form.

If you’d like to discuss your research results or have questions about financial support for research at HU, you can get in touch with us via email: zentrum-news(at)gender.hu-berlin.de.

We also have a German-language archive of projects completed at the Center for interdisciplinary Women’s Studies (ZiF) (1991-2002).

Additionally, all theses completed by Magister students in gender studies between 2001 and 2008, and Master theses completed after 2008 are available through GReTa.
