Description of the Project
|
In her dissertation, Krasuska attempts a comparative interpretation of works that were deemed transgressive in their various regional/national (feminist) contexts. Reading them across their local positionings leads to exposing specific constructions of the category of gender in each modernist literary canon. Methodologically speaking, with respect to then still young Central European Gender Studies, the project was to reveal the consequences of such a confrontation for comparative literature and gender studies themselves. |

Particulars

Karolina Krasuska, studied English and German at the Uniwersytet Warszawski (Poland). She holds a PhD in cultural ctudies from Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt/Oder (2010). Since 2009 she hass been an assistant professor at the American Studies Center, University of Warsaw and since 2011 a member of the reserach group »Literature and Gender« at the Polish Academy of the Sciences. 2005 – 2007 affiliated at the Research Training Group »Gender as a Category of Knowledge«. |
