The Center ( ZtG ) combines all the aspects which are indispensable for a scientifically founded analysis of Gender relations, bringing together various disciplines and people involved in research and diverse forms of critical discussion of the category gender in all theoretical and social areas.

The Center is a place for thinking, teaching, reading, writing, filming, speaking, living, discussing, presenting and trying out perceptions of Gender. More than 15 subjects, working with gender questions, come together in the ZtG - it is a transdisciplinary context which facilitates understanding.

In the ZtG researchers and academic staff, students and interested people from Germany and other countries, from universities and from the general public can find a place where they can exchange views and transfer knowledge and for a critical reflection of Gender. The various faculties work together in the “Gender Studies” joint commission. The Center is managed by individual members on a rotating basis. Our students play an important part in the student body of the faculty and are also involved in the “Gender Studies” program. We support research and library search. The gender dialogue is an excellent way of bringing gender into the public eye. And gender competence is put to the test in the practise [German site] of gender.
